* times are subject to change ( probably going to run a wee bit late ) and there’s a chance you might see additional bands through out the day not listed here.
“PC Worship have a more ragged, basement appeal than much of the Shdwply catalogue, with a crude, DIY psych edge that feels closer to the homemade aesthetic of the early Twisted Village sides than the glazed psych-pop most associated with this amazing label. NYC Stone Age feels like a collection of tracks put together over a period of time and it veers into a bunch of mutually fucked zones: there are some honking brass-led jazz breakdowns that match Joshua Burkett-era Vermonster in terms of excessively-damaged free-rock motion, the kind of claustrophobic private basement psych that would erect temples around Vulcan’s Meet Your Ghost LP and some zoned pop/drone songs. Another great one from a label that can pretty much do no wrong.” -Vocanic Tounge

Friday November 6th, 2009 ~ The Monkey House ~ Doors 8:30 ~ $5 at the door!
Man I like You Can Be A Wesley. I often wake with their songs already playing in my head.
Rolling into town on the 7th to play a rocker with HUSBANDS AKA & Patrick Brownson at Muddy Waters, a night before they hit up EAT YOUR HEART OUT BOSTON @ Church supporting DEERTICK.
Have seen them at the Monkey House two times prior, hope the downtown location treats them well and they get some randoms in off the street.
The warm, vintage sounds on Boston-based quartet You Can Be A Wesley’s debut full-length were recorded straight to two-inch tape last summer by Jeremy Mendicino of fellow Beantown locals (and Hardly Art signees) Pretty And Nice.
Heard Like Us presents the ideal feel-good summertime soundtrack.
Though poppy hooks, whimsical imagery, handclaps and tambourines shimmer throughout, the record is not overly sweet. It features Joanna Newsome-esque vocals and memorable sing-along choruses while also presenting clear rock ‘n’ roll sensibilities. Straightforward, repetitive guitar riffs, Pixies-inspired bass lines and aggressive drum beats see-saw perfectly against the lighter, lovable notes, all of which are wrapped up in a surfy analog haze – Liz Pelly – CMJ Review

Come hang out in between the sets of awesome going on all day at the Radio Bean 9th Birthday Bash.
A surprising # of great shows this week. I’m all out of order with whats happening where on what day but I’ll at least get the finer points out there so folks can find the goods. Sorting it out as I go. The Mumlers are an act out of San Jose who just hopped off a tour with the Black Heart Procession. The Fishermen Three are a Berkley/ Brooklyn based act that recently toured the UK with Jeffrey Lewis and his band. These two acts are pairing up for a few shows in New England , with Burlington’s own OSAGE ORANGE along for the Monkey House gig.
Per usual, Hope to get out in time to catch these folks coming through town. It’s certainly not all about who you have and have not played with, but these folks have graced the stage supporting some acts I’m truly fond of.
The likes of: Mount Eerie, Calvin Johnson, Racc-oo-oon, Jason Anderson, Casiotone For The Painfully Alone, Dan Deacon, Videohippos, Magnolia Electric Co., Tiny Vipers, June Madrona, Eric Carbonara, Paper Hats & Point Juncture Wa.
They’ll be stopping through Radio Bean this coming Friday to play a set starting at 9:30pm. This will be night one of a quick 3 night jaunt through New England with additional stops in Portland/ Lewiston Maine.
Come hang out the night before the Radio Bean turns 9.
“Cabinet of Natural Curiosities is a result of the indie-music world’s ongoing experiment with folk: It cuts the music apart, sending its pieces back to imagined woods, shires, and netherworlds, and patiently lets them drift back in new configurations… Cabinet leader Jasmine Dreame Wagner has a feel for her influences’ primal sweetness and creepiness. Between her vocal melodies and some spare guitar-plucking are cracks that fill up with the sounds of glassy chimes, tweeting birds, children’s voices, and other idyllic forms of ambient noise.”

- Moon/Sparrow @ Rererato, Portland, OR 9-22-07. Live sound. Live video.
“Due to situations beyond our control, The Heavy have had to cancel their Stateside, East coast shows for World Cafe in Philladelphia on Nov 2, Club Metronome in Burlington, Great Scott in Boston and finally 92Y Tribeca in NYC.
We are not in the habit of cancelling our obligations and would like to make it understood that we in NO uncertain terms, wanted to cancel any of these shows as we have had such a great time tearing apart your towns in the US.
We hope to make it back next year at some point and please do not think ill of the band at all for these unforeseen cancellations please”.
And that sucks but….
ROUGH FRANCIS, hot off of their showcase is NYC at CMJ, will still be performing. Probably one of their last Burlington shows for a while, as the guys get ready to get into the studio and put their album together. Come out and see these guys while you still can!!
DJ Disco Phantom will Rock it throughout the night.
