The only time I’ve had the opportunity to see MGMT has been here in Burlington and both times at HG. First time through it was merely a duo and they were opening for OF MONTREAL.Vaguely remember the show. OM were great. They really loved a band I heart from back in Portland called PHANTOM BUFFALO. so they rule.
Last time through was a headlining slot with CHAIRLIFT in the smaller room at HG and they were pretty great. SO busy.
SUPER SOLD OUT.
Folks tried to set up a gig with them at the 5th Element the night prior cause they were kicking about in town but a few of their folks were sick and nothing came to. I vaguely remember someone also thinking I was homeless around that time at a house party and trying to get me removed! I have a home damn-it.
MGMT
MGMT has made a name for themselves with their high-energy neo-psychedelic pop. Their songs have appeared in movies and televisions shows, garnering popular and critical acclaim, including a Grammy nomination for 2010 Best New Artist.
“MGMT merits just as much attention for its psychedelic experimentation as it does for its melodies and hooks.”
– Billboard
fuck. they were on SNL this past weekend as well.
MGMT recently tapped Pete Kember, of highly influential space-rock band Spacemen 3, to produce their second album, called CONGRATULATIONS.
THE VACANT LOTS were personally selected by Peter Kember and will be supporting his latest project SPECTRUM for their upcoming US tour in DC, Baltimore, Philly, Boston and Brooklyn . AMAZING.
Kember has recorded and played with such acts as YO LA TENGO and STEREOLAB to throw some names out.
any way.
