I know many a people in Burlington had high hopes that the Joanna Newsom tour would make its way to Burlington this March. Looked as though it was almost doable but just fell a little short this time through. Toronto, Montreal, Cambridge and NYC have just a little bit more pull than we do unfortunately.
Even though we’re missing the bigger show, we will have the opportunity to catch some of Joanna’s supporting cast when they roll through the Monkey House on their night off between Montreal and Cambridge on March 16th.
Kevin Barker is coming back to The Monkey House! Last time through was a solo affair with Happy Birthday and Paper Castles on the bill.
This time is just as impressive.
Kevin will be joined by Robert Lowe (aka Lichens).
PLUS a few of their friends/ band mates on tour with Joanna Newsom will be rolling through for sets as well.
Ryan Francesconi (acoustic instruments) and Neal Morgan (drums + voice).
This will be great.
Appreciate performers doing their own things on their nights off from the larger events.

Ryan Francesconi
Ryan Francesconi is a composer, conductor, guitarist, balkan musician, and cyclist living in Portland, Oregon. His playing can be heard on recordings by Joanna Newsom, RF, RF & Lili De La Mora, The Toids, Trio Mopmu, Sleeping At Last, Dosh and others.
He’s the author of the experimental sound software, Spongefork, and one of the main proponents of Bulgarian folk music in the United States. Recent highlights include arranging Joanna Newsom’s 2010 release “Have One On Me”, conducting the Chicago Symphony, composing for the Sony Pictures feature “Open Season 3”, and a new solo guitar recording entitled “Parables”. Neal Morgan

Neal Morgan is a drummer and vocalist living in Portland, Oregon. His music consists entirely of drumming and singing. His first solo album, To The Breathing World, will be self-released in October 20, 2009 with distribution by Drag City. In addition to writing and performing original material, he accompanies Joanna Newsom and other fellow musicians from Nevada City, CA.
