The Lisps – 1.22.10 – Radio Bean – Late[R] Night GIG.

These folks are out of NYC.

They rep/ sing songs about stuff you know about:

3 out of 4 people being Lefty. Not wanting to be the one you love. Not wanting to see the people you fuck. ya know.

the usual stuff.

The LISPS

The Lisps are a New York-based assemblage of 21st century humans. They are most accurately described as the public/performative version of all the relationships you’re struggling with.

“Extraordinarily ambitious, engaging, and uplifting live music experience; a celebration of the sheer power of imagination and creativity that – through the meta-narrative of a grunt soldier writing a science-fiction masterpiece – can’t help but pull its own curtain back on the imaginative scope and vision of the show’s creators.” – Ear Farm

“Like an old time variety show, the Lisps’ songs tap dance between simple country guitar melodies to a cacophony of melodica, horns, even bag pipes. Tunis and Alvarez trade lyrics so sweet and silly they sound like the Moldy Peaches’ campy, country cousin.” – Spin Magazine

definitely check this as well:

FUTURITY is an original indie-rock musical by Brooklyn-band The Lisps. A theatrically staged song cycle, FUTURITY tells the story of a Union soldier in the Civil War who is an aspiring science fiction writer. The work fuses traditional Americana, found text, experimental music, and The Lisps’ own brand of quirky co-ed pop.
