Call For House Show Hosts

Want to host a show?

It seems to me that even with the slowing down of the Tick Tick machine and with the harsh conditions put forth by mother nature these winter months in Vermont, Burlington is further sticking its head out on the areas musical map.   It has been nice to see that the community is responding and supporting it.   All we’re asking is for more support, and to let us into your home!

Its nice to have places like the Radio Bean and the Monkey House as well as alternative venues like The Bakery, 5th Element and North End Studios.   But there is a small problem.  All of these places (with the exception of the Radio Bean on an extremely attentive night) lack a certain level of intimacy that could work with a slew of bands that are touring their way around the country (and world for that matter).

Long story short,  we are looking or people that would be willing to invite anywhere from 15-40 people into their home to host house shows.  It doesn’t have to be somewhere super fancy or even really all that big.   I know there are a few places hosting shows around town that focus on Old Timey/Trad music, but there are plenty of the more freak folky bands out there that could use a spot to play as well as some killer solo performers.  The thought is preferably in town (Burlington, Winooski, etc.), but the prospect of a nice out of town show if the details are right is certainly worth looking into.   Also,  if the show is on a weekend or during the late spring/summer/early fall, the noise issues are pretty minimal seeing as most of the bands that play these sorts of show are pretty quiet.

We are mostly interested in finding out who would be willing to host a show in the future and generating a list of whom to contact about shows as they come our way.  So, if you are into it,  shoot us an email at angioplastymedia[at]gmail.com (just replace the [at] with a @, dig?).

Thanks,

Angio Plasty

I’m buying a house this year & my first criteria for purchase is a finished basement large enough to host shows.

That’s great. It’ll be interesting to see how to match up shows with house sizes, locations, sounds, etc. Stay in touch.

I don’t know if our house is appropriate for a show, but we wouldn’t mind discussing it. We are also always open to hosting band sleep overs.
