It’s always so much fun to go to a venues calendar ( especially Radio Beans) and run over the names of all the bands you’ve never listened to/ or heard of. Sometimes you run across a real gem that just happens to be strolling through Burlington looking for an open slot on a night they are free.
That seems to be just the case with PALE YOUNG GENTLEMEN playing Radio Bean on Saturday Oct. 25th. The band out of Madison, Wisconsin have a pretty extensive tour lined up with a choice CMJ Showcase just prior to the Burlington play and a gig at the Middle East the night following the Bean. I’d recommend anyone who’s a fan of Andrew Bird, Beirut or Devotchka to show up early and grab a choice seat at the Bean.
” With finger-plucked guitar and quivering strings, PYG crafts a unique and uncompromising musical vision. Drawing upon the folk-classical movements of Brahms, the evocative storytelling of Randy Newman, and the pop orchestration and sensibilities of Brian Wilson and Paul McCartney, Pale Young Gentlemen fashion a unique and compelling sound in the chilly atmosphere of Wisconsin’s capitol.” Science of Sound
Their new album released via SCIENCE OF SOUND just came out on the 7th of October. Dan Bolles has a stellar review of the new work in 7 DAYS I’d also suggest reading.
Hope to see a few folks there. they should hit around 11pm. No cover.
